“KWSe Serves Tourists from Overseas with The Spirit of Warm Hospitality”

[Who We Are]

KWSe was officially founded in 2018 to make international tourists feel welcomed and more fully enjoy sightseeing and experience in Kyoto, the old capital of Japan (794-1869). KWSe consists of ordinary citizens who offer volunteer guide services with warm hospitality, and is approved by the Japan National Tourism Organization as an SGG (Systematized Goodwill Guide) organization. We are not professional guides, but senior supporters who have completed the official guide seminar and possess the required levels of both English skill and knowledge of Kyoto. It is fun and pleasurable for us to share what we have been learning through our locals’ eyes with international tourists.

[What We Do as Volunteer Guides]

Our activities are unique and diverse. At Kyoto’s famous popular spots, we provide “help-on-demand in the street” for international tourists. We are also trained in the fire-fighting protocol to evacuate people and save our cultural properties. At festivals and events, we support and help international tourists with information and help in solving various problems. We are planning to add private guided tours for small groups of international tourists who would like a more in-depth experience in Kyoto. We work continuously to improve our skills so that we can implement our goodwill guide activities even more efficiently.

We open a person-to-person guide activity on the 10^th of January 2023. Please contact us for anything you want to do in Kyoto, and feel free to drop your request through this Website.

[What Is the City of Kyoto?]

Kyoto was the capital of Japan where the Emperors had lived for over 1200 years until the capital function was moved to Tokyo about 150 years ago. There are many World Heritage Sites and you can visit and enjoy them. And also we hope you will explore our local authentic cultures yourself.
