This is a retirement house place of Mukai Kyorai, who is a disciple of Matsuo Basho who is a great haikumaster.

“Haiku” is a poem composed of 17 syllables. Matsuo Basho visited here and wrote his famous diary “Saga Nikki” during his stay.  

Gazing upon this idyllic landscape and a thatch-roofed house, you may start feeling like a Haiku poet yourself. By the way, at that time there were about 40 persimmon trees around Rakushisha, but all the fruits had fallen in a storm overnight after the owner agreed to sell them.

This hut was named after this incident.
